Man pleads guilty to sex assault of elder
A former assisted-living center worker accused of sexually assaulting a 74-year-old resident suffering from Alzheimer's Disease pleaded guilty Friday.
Lyle Reid French, 55, of Louisville pleaded guilty to two felony sexual assault charges. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 10. District Judge Morris Sandstead will determine whether French will be sent to prison or be placed on probation.
French was working at Alterra Wynwood At Ridge Point, 3375 34th St., when the allegations surfaced in February. He is free on a $50,000 bond.
According to Boulder police, French admitted to having sexual contact with the woman, who police and Alterra officials said has significant dementia and does not have the mental capacity to consent to sex.
Man injured in road-rage case
Sheriff's investigators are looking for a man who kicked and beat a Westminster man in a road-rage fight on U.S. 36 last week.
Deputies said Spencer Sparks, 28, had visible injuries to his face, head, ear, neck and arm after the May 23 assault.
According to a sheriff's report, Sparks told deputies that he was driving on the Boulder-Denver Turnpike near Cherryvale Road when a car pulled in front of him. Sparks said the driver made an obscene gesture before both drivers pulled to the shoulder, where the other driver attacked Sparks, according to a sheriff's report.
Deputies said the license plate obtained by Sparks is listed to an Aurora man, whom authorities have been unable to contact.
Keg from BHS camp-out bought with stolen ID
Investigators are trying to determine who bought three kegs of beer that wound up at an annual Boulder High School seniors camp-out last week.
Sheriff's deputies confiscated three kegs on May 23 from a campsite in Gold Hill. The kegs, purchase at Liquor Mart in Boulder, were emptied at the site.
While sheriff's deputies were able to trace one of the kegs to a stolen ID, the purchasers of the two other kegs could not be identified.
Deputies were alerted to the unofficial camping party by two parents of high school seniors.

Man, 19, accused of criminal mischief, DUI
A 19-year-old Lyons man was arrested after police said he vandalized another man's property before trying to elude officers while drinking and driving.
Gregory Edward Johnson, a Front Range Community College student, may face charges of second-degree trespass on agricultural land, hazardous-waste violations, first-degree trespass in three cars, driving under the influence a second DUI in five years eluding, and driving with a revoked license.
Police were called at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday to investigate two trespassers on Randy Perdue's property, 2853 Stone Canyon Road. Perdue said someone had stolen keys from 15 different vehicles and farm equipment, drained a 55-gallon drum of oil on the ground and let his cows lose.
Police pursued a truck that matched the description of the suspects' vehicle to a Diamond Shamrock station at 4106 Colo. 66. Two men then got out and ran, according to police reports.
As authorities began the process of impounding the truck, Johnson, who was seen hiding across the street in some bushes, approached and began to yell at them for touching his truck, police reported. He was taken into custody.

Police search for man who tried to kidnap girl
Police are searching for a man they said attempted to kidnap a 3-year-old at a department store Thursday night.
The suspect, described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s, approached the girl at 9:30 p.m. at the Ross store, 2972 Iris Ave., and tried to get her to leave with him, police reported. The girl was not harmed.
Witnesses told police the suspect was 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown thinning hair cut close on the sides, wearing a dark green T-shirt and blue jeans. He may have been driving a maroon, full-size van, possibly a Ford, police reported.
