BOULDER COUNTY
Ag secretary allows emergency grazing
Boulder County can allow grazing on Conservation Reserve Program land to provide drought relief to ranchers hit hard by drought conditions.
The action, approved by Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, allows Reserve Program participants and livestock producers whose pastures have been negatively affected by drought to graze livestock on Conservation Reserve Program acres elsewhere.
The program is a voluntary program that aids farmers.
Only livestock operations located within approved counties are eligible for emergency grazing on Reserve Program acres. Participants can rent or lease grazing privileges to an eligible livestock producer located in an approved county.
For more information, call the Boulder County Farm Service Agency at (303) 776-1242.
