ELDORADO SPRINGS

Climber injured sliding 300 feet

A climber lost his footing Saturday afternoon and slid 300 feet down a mountain in Eldorado Canyon State Park. He was taken by ambulance to Boulder Community Hospital with abrasions on his head, upper body, arms and legs.

Boulder County sheriff's Deputy Gregory Ranum, said the climber fell from a rock formation known as Whale's Tail, which has a 70-degree incline. He was not using safety equipment.

Ranum said the climber remained conscious while being assisted by emergency teams. The Sheriff's Office did not release his name.
